HGE24 Pompeii. Herculaneum Gate East Side. Shop.

(Eschebach East 24, Kockel Nord 24).

 

HGE24 Pompeii. May 2006. Looking north-east towards entrance doorway. According to Garcia y Garcia, on 18th September 1943 a bomb smashed the poor remains of the shops at HGE22, 23, 24 and the colonnade outside them. The damage was not recorded in the official report, but can be seen in a photo (fig.398 -Foto SAP neg 57-A) See Garcia y Garcia, L., 2006. Danni di guerra a Pompei. Rome: L’Erma di Bretschneider.
