An inscription was found on the outside wall - Optata verna a(ssibus) II [CIL IV 5105] This translates as “Optata sells herself for 2 asses” [CIL IV 5105] See Varone, A., 2002. An inscription was found on the outside wall, it read  -

Optata

verna a(ssibus) II    [CIL IV 5105]

This translates as “Optata sells herself for 2 asses”   [CIL IV 5105]

According to Boyce, on the south wall of the kitchen was a large rectangular panel of white stucco. On it were painted two yellow serpents with red crest and beards. These were on either side of a tile embedded and projecting from the wall. A fire was painted on the wall above the tile. The background was painted with plants, and across the top were two painted garlands. On each of the garlands was a painted bird. See Boyce G. K., 1937. Corpus of the Lararia of Pompeii.
