According to
Jashemski, and Della Corte, at the time of the eruption the peristyle had been
converted into an officina textrinum, or weaver’s workshop.
Inscribed graffiti
indicate the location of 3 looms under the portico, and record the names of the
three servants or male weavers who attended them.
