VII.3.39
![VII.3.39 Pompeii. May 2006. Painted plaster on wall to north of entrance. According to Della Corte, between the doorways of VII.3.39 and VII.3.40, was written a curious painted graffito. He thought it was written not much after the year 80BC.
Quintio(m) si qui recusant assidat ad asinum [CIL IV 2887]
Della Corte translated this as, “Chi rifiuta Quinzio, (o gli e contro nell’elezione), merita la pubblica fustigazione a dorso d’asino”
This roughly translates as “Who refuses Quinzio (or is against in the election), deserves the public flogging on a donkey’s back”.
