According to Jashemski, the peristyle garden to the left of the atrium originally had a portico on the east side. It was supported by five stucco-covered brick columns, two of which were engaged, yellow above, red below. Of the four spaces between the columns, two were later left open; the third was closed by a low masonry wall.
