VI.5.10 Pompeii. September 2005. Room 1, north side of peristyle. According to Jashemski, when excavated in 1809 the peristyle area was found in a ruined state. Today, the columns on the north and south are joined by a low wall which has a planting space on top. The low wall on the east side has been restored without a planting space. The entire house was found in such a ruined state it was nearly impossible to know how the rooms were connected. See Jashemski, W. F., 1993. The Gardens of Pompeii, Volume II: Appendices. According to Jashemski, when excavated in 1809 the peristyle area was found in a ruined state.

Today, the columns on the north and south are joined by a low wall which has a planting space on top.
