Looking west from the corridor of room 7 across the south
side of atrium to doorway to room 20.
According to Breton, on the left would have been the wall
with the painting of Neptune.
According to Helbig, the atrium also contained a painting
– the chariot of Artemis (246) as well as one of Poseiden or Neptune. (172)

VI.5.3 Pompeii. December 2007. Room 20, niche in west wall.
According to Boyce, in the room opening off the south-west
corner of the atrium, in the west wall opposite the entrance door, is an arched
niche.
This is set high up in the wall.
Its interior walls were painted with green plants on a
white background.
The niche is made to stand out from the decoration of the
walls of the room, for it is set across the line which divides the lower panels,
which are alternating red and yellow, from the upper register, which is white.
